Hello Betty! What Ya Got Cookin'

So... You might have seen I won a Hello Betty Charm pack from MO Star Quilt Company's give away... I might just have mentioned it before... just maybe.

I was able to make these two awesome runners... One for now with all these fun happy prints in reds, yellows, blues, greens and pinks...

and then...
This little lovely... with teals, rusts, chocolate browns, and greys for in the fall.

But that's not all folks!

I had enough charms left over to make four, yes ~ FOUR ~ trivet/hot pads. How cool is that?!? I still had two charms left... maybe a coaster? Just kidding... I'll save them for a later project.

So yup, Hello Betty has been good to me.

Beginnings of a New Chevron Runner...

I had this awesome paisley fabric in my stash... added a little burgundy pin dot and navy mottled dot fabric for a pretty effect. I think it will look very nice on my kitchen table for the 4th of July holiday. My back was getting tired this evening... so this is as far as I got. I hope to finish it tomorrow evening and then back and begin quilting both runners. Sister of mine with a birthday on Friday... would you like to have a little something to adorn your table? Just say the word. I just need to know what colors you would like and then I'll come up with a little something just for you... It'll be Renee's Runner... kinda catchy if I do say so myself.

What I Did On My Summer Vacation Give-Away...

I'm not sure what this pattern is called... I think its a zig zaggy thing... maybe a cheery chevron in Kashmir (te he he). Anywho, here is a little table runner I started this weekend with some half square triangles made from a ... ta da,Kashmir IV charm pack by Sentimental Studios for Moda... when I started I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them... I'd done pinwheels... needed something new... sew, I mean so, this is what I came up with. My son, Zach, gave it two thumbs up... He likes the paisley prints especially. Who'da thunk it? You never know with my boys.

ps... Natalie help me out here. Didn't you make a quilt with a similar pattern to this. I would swear... not really... anyway I sure thought that's where I saw it. You know me... no pattern necessary as long as I've seen something similar... so, did you or didn't you? hmmmm?

Oh, I know I posted about this earlier... but I am so happy with my little back porch garden. And it is something else I did over the weekend. This is a nice shot of our little back yard oasis... The pictures I posted earlier were taken at night... so I shot a few the other morning. I love my little backyard pond. So do the dogs. They like to play king of the mountain on the rock pile... silly little things. I'll have to try to get a shot of them later... oh well, off to bed I go... 5 am will be here before I know it.
As for the title... tell me what you did over the weekend... kinda like the first week of school as a child when we had to write the dreaded report... What I Did on My Summer Vacation... ok, now it's your turn...

To Sash or Not to Sash...

That was the Question!
Then the question became...
should I add the turquoise blocks?
I went with... Nope...
I just couldn't make it look right.
I'm making a queen size quilt with the 16 blocks above.
After a 9 inch border it will measure 90 inches square...
WAY, WAY Excited!

Then this lovely little gem will be a baby quilt/table topper.
It measures 38 inches square before borders.
It will be a very nice size once I add the 4 inch borders.
Off to MO Star Quilt Company tomorrow
for border fabric and a new project.
I'm lovin' me some quilting...
Even if I go with the way easy peasy patterns.

My Head is Spinning...

I think I may be in Love...

This is a collage of my first ever attempt at pinwheel blocks.
I'm making them from Moda's Fig Tree Quilts "Fig & Plum" layer cake.

I think it was the bold contrast...

Oh, I forgot to mention... I got this fabric from one of the Daily Deals at MO Star Quilt Shop ... woo who for great deals!!

okay... Craziness... I blog stalked on over to this site today of all days! Now how bazaar is that?

New Drawstring Bag in the Making...

Sew... I mean, soooo... my first little drawstring bag is a little small. I guess it will soon be transformed into a backpack for my little charmer, Ashelyn. I am working on a new bag for me. It's made with 3 1/2 inch squares instead of the 2 1/2 inch squares. Not near as cute, but moves a whole lot faster. I went with stripes for the back of the bag... same fabrics used in the front... same size stripes as the squares... quick and easy. I hope to finish it up tomorrow... but once again... it's bedtime for Bonzo.

ps, on the salvage of this fabric it said Bonnie Benn Stratton "Quilt for a Cure" not sure what cure... but kinda neat, none the less. This fabric is from a fat quarter bundle I have had in my stash since 2002... Retro Nouveau... I have loved this fabric forever.

Thank You Sarah & Natalie...

Woooo Hooooo!!!! I picked up this little gem from Sarah's shop yesterday. I love, love, love the quilt pattern they chose with the little cherries. How cute is that. All I had to do was the final binding and then wa-la... complete. Natalie did the quilting and it is just beautiful. (if you click on the image, you can see a lot more detail) Anywho... One down and three more little beauties to go.

ps... Misty says these are the perfect size for an infant car seat quilt... so there you go... she would definitely know. I just know I enjoyed the entire process and this was something even I could do with my limited quilting experience. I'll leave the intricate patterns to those with more talent and patience.

Nine Patch Center Pieces or Baby Blankets...

So yup... I bought this awesome "Oh Cherry Oh!" Layer Cake by "Me and My Sister" at Sarah's shop. I am making nine patch center pieces and baby blankets. Can't get much easier than this. If you can sew a straight line, you can make these and with a cake layer... no cutting involved. You just mess with the fabrics until you have something you like. I went pretty basic for these first ones... but I am loving them. They are so bright and cheerful and pretty much ready for spring don't ya think.

For the center pieces I will just add backing in a coordinating fabric and bring it to the front for a small hemmed edge.

For the baby blanket... I think it will need to be just a little larger... so I will add a 2 1/2 to 3 inch coordinating boarder with a print in each corner... fun, fun.

Yay for Layer Cakes!
