KHS Prom 2010

100_9960

The Two Amigos… Aren’t they studdly!?!

Zachary would not take off the sombrero he bought in NYC.

101_0001The dress Jenni has on and Zachary’s vest and tie were made by Jenni’s Grandmother. They looked so beautiful together… notice the sombrero.

100_9965

Silly son with Sombrero and beautiful Jenni.

I made the rose for Jenni’s hair at her request… (Bummer ~ she lost it on the dance floor… I guess I’ll be making another)  Zach’s pocket square was an after thought that I whipped up Saturday morning so it would match the vest.

100_9990

Jenni and her grandmother designed her dress. They put three patterns together to get just what she envisioned. I think they did a spectacular job.

The sombrero just would not come off… well eventually it did, but it took forever… what is even up with that?

100_9974

The back of Jenni’s dress was amazing!!! This picture showed off just how gorgeous it was and her pretty up do too!

Notice… no sombrero!

Alexander escorted Kat ~ a beauty from the Czech Republic. Kat is a foreign exchange student and a senior this year. She and Alexander are friends from Choir. They made a stunning couple as well.

100_9971

They had a great time… Alexander even danced… Crazy I know. You can see Alexander was really proud to escort such a lovely girl.

Alex and Kat left after just a few shots to join the group they went to dinner with for pictures at Kat’s friends house. I only managed to snag two decent pictures before they darted off. I’m so glad I was able to get these two shots.

100_9986 Zach putting on Jenni’s wrist corsage. Too bad I cut their heads off.

100_9989Jenni pinning on Zach’s boutonniere.

Jenni’s five year old cousin picked out and bought the earrings she’s wearing. She said she just knew Jenni would LOVE them. How sweet is that? The broach in the center of Jenni’s dress is an antique of her grandmother’s. Love, love, loved it!100_9994

This is Zach’s senior prom so I snapped a crazy amount of pictures for him. I’ll try not to bore you with too many more… but I had so much fun and it was such a pretty day for pictures.

I loved this shot of my two guys… had to add it to our header for now.

That’s all folks.

Can Anyone Say, “GOOFY!!!”

DSCN2279

I love this Huck Finn look…

Misty took these photos of Zach yesterday… the sun wasn’t quite at the right spot she says… glare and shadow… caused a bit of a problem. I love them anyway.

These last two shots show off Zach’s personality to a “T”. He is so full of it sometimes.

I thought these all looked awesome… I do see what Mist meant about shadows… but they are each such good pics. Not sure what we will do for his Sr. Pictures tho.

Zach and Jenni - Pond Excursion

Zach and Jenni were good sports and went in the pond to check out the depth for me... Zach wasn't too sure... but Jenni was like "I'll go!" What a hoot! Of course Zach couldn't be one upped by a girl... So, in they went. Oh, check out the Rainbow that came out just as the Kids got out of the water... it's a little blurry, but you get the drift.
This is a visitor to our small ornamental fish pond... you might not be able to tell... but he was as big as my hand... pretty much gianormous!!!! Brent thought he might be eating our goldfish... I said no worries... I see them swimming around... at least Big Bertha (yes, I name my gold fish... she's awesome!!!).

Zach Lookin' Good...

Zach lookin' all snazzy and ready for his big date.

This is what I call Zach's old man face.
These two pics showed his tuxedo a little better...
the pinstripes didn't show up very well in the other shots.
I think he looks very handsome...
even if he is my own sweet boy...
well, sometimes not so sweet... but still my boy.

oh... check out the chin hair he's sporting... Zach thinks he is something.

Getting Ready for KHS Prom...

Staging a picture that should have been taken from the base of the stairs.

The whole hee haw gang... looking spiffy.

The studs... I only know Zach and Jake... aka, Beckett
Beckett is standing in the center next to Zach.

I thought this shot Brent got was too funny...
It looks like they are getting ready for a funeral procession.

Zach's Smithville Track Meet...

Zach's Track Meet...

Here are just a few shots that Bj got at Zach's track meet last week. Zach has been struggling this year to beat his personal best. They finally adjusted his approach to add some extra steps... this allows for speed and lift... tomorrow's meet should let us know how that is working out for him... keep your fingers crossed. All I can say is... sure is high! I think it would be very scary. Zach loves it though.

He Keeps Us Challenged & Laughing...

So... The email went like this...

Kimberly,

Just wanted to let you know that Zach was referred to the office for disciplinary consequences this afternoon. When he was in his Algebra class, he shouted out, “There’s a moose outside.” He then ran to the window and also ran out the classroom door into the hallway.

Zach has been assigned to serve 1 day of in-school suspension on Tuesday, 3/17/09. During the time he spends in ISS, he may complete his class assignments at full credit.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Cindy O'Brien, KHS Assistant Principal

And so I wrote...

Ms. O'Brien,

Ok... now that I'm done laughing... I am soooo sorry, I'm pretty sure he takes after his dad. Please extend my apologies to the teacher involved. It is obvious Zach was out of line. Once again I will discuss our expectations with him. I'll ask him what he was thinking... I'm pretty sure he was thinking... I wonder how many kids will follow me to the window to look. I'm sorry for the disruption.

He keeps us laughing and challenged.

K....

*****************************************************************

And then I couldn't resist and sent this...

Cindy,

Did it look like this one and did you catch it? I heard it's been running loose in Kearney for a while now. At least it's a happy looking moose.

Sorry... that was my first instinct. It's possible Zach's orneriness comes from both his dad and me. I really will try not to laugh when I discuss the situation with him.

2008 Musical Christmas Feast

So I'm sorry... I'm a little behind... okay... a lot behind. I'm not sure what my deal was... but I guess I was on bloggin' hiatus.

On December 12th Kearney's High School Choirs put on a beautiful Musical Christmas Feast. We were thrilled that Dad and Phyllis joined us. This is the second year that Zachary participated in the musical portion dressed in Renaissance garb. I have to say this year's festivities far surpassed last years. Oh... and Zach can totally rock the tights... I'm not sure every guy can say that... Zach was also the only member of the Chamber Choir that escorted two Renaissance ladies. Tailor also sang in the Girls Bel Canto Choir.

This was the first year that Alexander participated in the festivities... but he not only got to sing with the 9th Grade Men's Choir he also played his guitar to "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"! We were so proud of him... he did great! Brent video taped it but forgot that you can't turn the camera on its side... cuz... unlike pictures you can't flip a video... so here you go... Alex's guitar playing debut:

Two Wild & Crazy Guys...

So the guys thought they were looking pretty cool. Zach took Alex for a ride before he took the car back to Tailor's dad. He wanted to take me for a ride also, but I said I thought he just needed to go ahead and take it back while our luck was holding out... I really, really, really do not like to drive other peoples vehicles... I don't care who the car belongs to... It's just a thing with me... I'm sure if something can go wrong, it will... and while it's in my possession. But it was very kind for Tailor's dad to share his vehicle and to trust in our Zachary. Zach and Tailor had a great time.

Kearney Homecoming 2008...

What a cute couple!!!

So you can see Zach and Tailor were really excited to have mom take pictures. I wasn't letting them out of the house without snapping at least one shot... They looked so awesome... I know I'm prejudice, but what can I say... You can see Zach is like... Snap the picture already.

So yup... Tailor's dad let Zach drive his car to dinner on the Plaza and homecoming.... Can anyone say "CRAZY!"... I know they look decidedly happier standing in front of this way sweet ride... but come on... He has only been driving for a year... Tailor's dad is much nicer than I am... I told Zach he couldn't take my car... I think I'm supposed to feel guilty now... not so much... just worried... Please don't let anything happen to the car.

Here is a cute shot of them with the a side shot of the car... Misty says "I'm pretty sure when I went to homecoming we drove Jake's Geo."... They do look pretty snazzy tho.

More Chicago Fun...

I can't believe I forgot to put this picture up... The guys were sitting waiting for the train and I don't know for some reason this shot popped into my head... so being nice guys and humoring me... we have... Speak no Evil, See no Evil, and Hear no Evil... I probably got them in the wrong order... but I liked it... It's going to go on my wall of fame.
Here are just a few move random shots of Chicago. Zach absolutely fell in love with the R2D2 mailbox. So of course we had to get a picture. Then some man pointed out the sign for the Beginning of the Famous Route 66, so I had to get a picture of that too... Brent's cousin, Linda, has a great Antique store on Route 66 in Lebanon, MO... so family ties, sorta.... the shot in the bottom left is one of the cool buildings and happens to be where the came up with the names for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... It has the names across the top edge of the building.... so that's it in terms of pictures from Chi Town, but we loved it and I am ready to go again.

Nice One Boys....

This is what I get when I attempt to get a picture of my boys... They are getting pretty stubborn. Oh well, have to catch them when they're not looking I guess. That Alex is a nut tho'. Not sure what he thought he was doing... I think he thought he hid his face... not so much... silly guy... Zach wouldn't even give me the time of day... important game ya know.

Family fun...

Here are a few more shots of the family... the shot in the upper right hand corner was taken the other night when Brent's Mom's uncle David was over. He was so happy to get to hold Miss Ashelyn. I love the shot of Brent and Gideon... They looked so handsome together. The shot on the bottom right of Tonya holding Ashelyn is very sweet also... this was the first time she got to see our little sweetie. I didn't get near enough pictures, but I really liked the few I did.

Zach's New Friend...

This is Kiwi... she or he... we're not sure... is a Quaker Parrot... from the Parakeet family... Apparently she or he has joined our family via Zachary... that boy will not take no for an answer when it comes to pets... he just loves animals and doesn't get the whole... you will be moving out of the house soon and we are soooo not going to keep your bird... She or he will make a nice donation to the KC Zoo when Zach is through with loving her or playing with her or caring for her... take your pick.... Any who... a few more shots of Kiwi.
One nice thing to say about Kiwi... not very noisy at this point.
Here Kiwi is eating our of Zach's hands... you can see the blue wing feathers have been clipped. This is supposed to keep Kiwi from flying freely... HA... fat chance... crazy little bird... It's going to hurt it's self yet.

I think I attached a video of Zach trying to train Kiwi...

Handsome Men...

Here is a great shot of Brent and the boys with Brent's 91 year old Great Uncle David. Uncle David is Lynn's dad and has just moved back to Kansas City to live with her. Beleave it or not, he is recovering from hip replacement surgery and has done wonderfully. He is so sweet and always has a great story or two to share. The boys really enjoyed their time visiting with him. We will have to make a point of visiting with him and Lynn often.
Here are a few pretty pictures of Lynn's oasis in the city. She works so hard to keep it beautiful. She is my inspiration for making my yard a little nicer. I just have to parcel my time out in little bits and pieces. Every year it improves tho'.
I don't remember how many varieties of Hostas Lynn has but I know it's a bunch. Her entire yard is pretty much shaded so they thrive.
I just thought this made for a neat shot.... had to throw it in as well. Cool bird house among the Clematis.
