Manilow in Action

WooHoo... What a Show!!!

Wendy, this shot's for you. I think when we were kids you loved him... so did I... I just was a little quieter about it.

We got to go see Barry Manilow's "Manilow, Music and Passion" show last night at the new Sprint Center with Dad and Phyllis! What an unbelievable show. He is quite an entertainer and was so fun too watch. His band was interspersed with Kansas City's Philharmonic Orchestra. They were all amazing! Brent got our two tickets early in the week from KKJO and was able to acquire two more so that Dad and Sweet, sweet thing, Phyllis got to join us. We had such a great time! But then, we always do when we spend time with them. It was so neat that they drove the 3 1/2 hour drive, just to go with us. Yeah, Yeah! If you have never seen Barry in concert and you have an opportunity... GO! You will not be disappointed.

Admin's Week Rocks!!!

So this week was Administrative Professionals Week... now that might not mean much to most people, but it sure did for me this week! Most weeks we just quietly... or in some cases... not so quietly go about our duties... sometimes noticed and sometimes not. This week at my work there was total validation for all we do. My Sr. Officers went together and purchased these beautiful flowers for me... I was so pleased and touched.... ACT (where I work) is practicing our BLUE DIME INNICIATIVE... pretty much that means we are tightening our belt... we are trying to take 10 cent per mile off our operating cost.... you probably know what that means, but if not... for every dollar they bill, they put another dime in their pockets... you might ask, why is that important to me...ie, Kimberly... BONUS at the end of the year... so yeah, I wasn't expecting flowers this year... not that I ever expect them, but I had every reason to think we wouldn't get them this year (Susan and I)... but I was way off... this time ACT didn't pay for them... yup, that's right... the officer's dug in their own pockets for our flowers... I am pretty sure that is a first time ever.... Only reason I know... no, not because I had to order my own flowers... I heard one of them collecting funds from the others... still didn't figure out what they were doing until they appeared on my desk... so YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH... I LOVE FLOWERS... THEY MAKE ME HAPPY!!!

So here are my flowers to you!
Everyone deserves the beauty of flowers!
I'm not sure I'd make it through the work week
with out my blogger family and my sweet family at home.
I love you all!

Alex Getting a Little Air

Alex said these didn't look good... I thought they were awesome!
Some of these he landed, some not, but I thought they all rocked!
He said this one didn't look very intellegent... didn't know there was such a thing.
You can see he totally got this one... he still didn't like the way his arms looked... oh well, mom thinks he's awesome! It was a lot of fun watching him... he was working so hard... wasn't going to stop tho'

Grandma's Day...

So I got to spend the afternoon with my sweet Gideon. We played and played outside and of course I had to sneak in a few shots of the Gidster. He is so much fun and is getting to be so big. Notice his super cute new haircut his mommy gave him. I wish I had a shot of him and Jake... they look just alike, like daddy - like son...
This shot is in the collage above, but I just loved it. First I pushed him all around the yard in his car, then he had to get out and look under the hood... what a hoot... apparently it was making a funny noise. I love all the color... especially the new purple clover.

I guess everything was fine!
It was back to riding around the yard.
What a fun time we had.
Yeah for Gideon & Grandma Time!

My Crazy New 'Do...

So Yeah... I'm not quite as adept at taking pictures of myself as Misty, but here you go. I think it's cuz my arms aren't long enough... One side needed a little more spiking... yes, you read it right. But I think it will be a fun summer do. Brent tried to get me to do this two years ago, but I wasn't havin' any of that.
Here's the back. Remember my motto... If you don't like it... it will grow back... oh yeah, first haircut at a hairdresser in over a year...What can I say... I'm crazy and I paid for it.

Lindonwood Gardens & Lacy...

Lindonwood Gardens is a botanical garden free to
the public in Grove, OK.
It was glorious and Lynn's little dog, Lacy, was quite the model for
some awfully cute pictures.
We had a great time.

True Story...

So driving along I-70 in route to visit Brent's Great Uncle David we saw these beautiful fields of waving yellow flowers... field after, fields of them... Lynn (Brent's mom's cousin... get that?) and I look at one another and both say... What do you think those are?
We complete our 4 hr drive to Grove, Oklahoma and go in for our first of many visits with Uncle David and he shows us this article about "A new golden color is spreading on the Plains". Now how ironic is that? Now onto our visit. Uncle David just turned 91, yes... you read that right... 91 and he is stuck in a nursing home with a bunch of sick old folks who are in an awful bad way (his words). He had hip replacement surgery 6 weeks ago and is there for recovery. I am here to tell you, he is amazing. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be doing as well as he is. He thinks he's ready to go home and take care of his chickens and get his garden in. So.... I have no excuse for not getting in at least a small garden.... more later

Barns along Hwy 70...

Here is just a few of the great old barns along I-70 in route to Oklahoma. They were from an era past, when farming was a way of life. I love them and have always been intrigued by all the character. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Happy Birthday to Momma...

Momma always had an infectious smile. When she smiled, you smiled also. Her smile and her testimony were her most endearing traits. I miss you and love you momma. Happy Birthday!

Oh What a Glorious Spring Day...

We went to listen to the Kearney High School Chamber Choir at their contest this morning. btw.... they got a 1... yay, yay! Anywho, on the way home we went by this fountain in north kansas city. It is one of my very favorite and since Kansas City is known for it's fountains that is saying a lot.
They keep the fountain running year round and it is always beautiful. During the winter it makes a lovely ice sculpture. But this is how it is meant to be seen. Children at play. What could be sweeter?
It also helps to remind me of one of my all time favorite musicals.... Sound of Music.
Anywho... hope you enjoy it as much as I do.... oh, and thank goodness for DVR... we were able to record General Conference to watch after we got home.... off to do that now. More later...
