Chicken Wire Planter Project...

I have been one busy little gardner today!
Ok... so I would recommend wearing long sleeves and gloves if you plan to attempt one of these chicken wire planters... otherwise your arms will resemble mine and your hands will look something like mine did. You can see I was rather busy with planting flowers... but I pretty pleased with how everything turned out.
I love this old chair I lined with Chicken Wire and Spanish Moss... all it needs to finish it off is a bright spring green sweet potato vine.
Here is one of my completed Chicken Wire flower baskets... I think I may be in love. I have a lot more chicken wire and will be adding to my collection... fun, fun, fun! I will have to take a little better care of my hands and arms next time tho.

Let me know if you are interested in a little tutorial on making one of these little lovelies... you might be able to fake it like I did just by looking at mine tho. I'd love to here what you think.

Check this out!!! Another amazing give-a-way!

You are going to want this...Find out how, HERE
But this little pretty scrumptious cupcake pincushion is going to be mine... no really, it is... I can just feel it... but do go and check it out anywho.

To Sash or Not to Sash...

That was the Question!
Then the question became...
should I add the turquoise blocks?
I went with... Nope...
I just couldn't make it look right.
I'm making a queen size quilt with the 16 blocks above.
After a 9 inch border it will measure 90 inches square...
WAY, WAY Excited!
Then this lovely little gem will be a baby quilt/table topper.
It measures 38 inches square before borders.
It will be a very nice size once I add the 4 inch borders.
Off to MO Star Quilt Company tomorrow
for border fabric and a new project.
I'm lovin' me some quilting...
Even if I go with the way easy peasy patterns.

There might be a theme here...

I Love, Love, LOVE the paisley or whatever it is.

Then I just loved this combo for some reason...
I think it was the bold contrast...

Oh, I forgot to mention... I got this fabric from one of the Daily Deals at MO Star Quilt Shop ... woo who for great deals!!

Don't Look Jeni... I Mean It...

Ok... Doan Girls... here is the quilt top with the first two borders attached.
Thank you Misty for helping with the final cuts on the pieced border and the pressing.
Momma really appreciates all of you support.
You are such a good daughter and niece.

I'm pretty happy with how the red squares centered between every block.

I especially loved the red on the corners...
it reminded me of how old photos used to be placed in photo albums...

Thank You, Thank You Doan Girls... You ROCK the Sewing World...
anywho... just two more wide borders to go... Wee Hee!!!
Sarah... I'll be seeing you on Saturday to drop of the finished top.
Love all you Girls.

I Have the Best Family Ever!!!

Zach picked out this card... I think it's AWESOME!!

Scary thing is... that it totally what my hair looked like last night... not even kidding... well, maybe the side weren't quite that big, buy the top was seriously just like it... I had covered my face with a wet washcloth while I was laying down to get rid of a headache... so I throw the cloth off and went to get a drink... Brent says "Nice Hair!" so I take a look in the mirror... and yup this is what I looked like... scary huh?

So... on to the I have the best family ever... TA DA!
They gave me a Wii Fit for Mother's Day! How cool is that!?! Totally and completely unexpected. I am so excited... good news is I'm not near as off on my weight as I thought I was... yeah!!!! 10 lbs put me easily in the normal weight range and 20 lbs would put me comfortably in the normal, even on the low side of normal... so yup, goal in mind for the next three months is 20 lbs... that is just 3 1/2 lbs every two weeks... when you break it down like that it doesn't seem so horrible.

Happy Mother's Day Everyone!!!
Hope your day is filled with Family Goodness!

We Miss You...

Brent's sweet momma
Sandra Sue Bailey Richardson

My sweet momma
Carolyn AnnaLee Walker McOsker

We miss your laughs, we miss your smiles,
We miss your counsel, we miss your touch,
We miss the twinkles in your eyes,
We miss your sweet and tender hugs,
Momma's, we miss you both so very much!

Words of Thanks...

Words can not express my love and appreciation for all Doan Girls. Jenny, Hillary, Natalie, Sarah and my Misty.... you are the best!!! Thank you so much for your help on our Friday night project at the Mo Star Quilt shop. CRAZY!!! Didn't crawl into bed until 4:45 this morning. Oh, and Sarah... are you crazy? Of course you needed to go home to your family... It worked out wonderfully. Jenny and Misty helped with the picking out (Now that is sacrifice)... Hilary's magic eye kept everyone spot on for the layout... Natalie's mad cutting skill ensured everything matched up beautifully... then of course a little sewing from me thrown in for good measure.

Thank you for your love, support and nonpareil expertise... you are all amazing... btw, it looks amazing also... just the borders to do. T & J came by to see the finished top. They were both so thrilled and said thank you over and over again, and how beautiful it had turned out. I told J. she could not see it again until she unwrapped it at her reception... being J. she stuck her tongue out and gave me a great big hug... so yup... You are all the VERY Best family ever!!! Oh, and Natalie... have I told you lately that I love you? Well here I go again...I love you all!

Word for the day... NONPAREIL, A person or thing so excellent as to have no equal or match.... I think that expresses the Doan Girls very well.

Need Your Help...

Well... I had this fabric left over from a previous project... a lovely old fat quarter bundle. I thought maybe this will work for a "pillowcase" dress for Ashelyn. Well, what's your take... yea or nae? I thought I would love it... but now I'm not so sure.

ps... Brent gave it "Two Thumbs Up" :o)

Simple Pillowcase Dress...

So I saw these on the internet and thought... yup, I can do that... so this is my first attempt. I am thinking of tea staining or dying the fabric to add a little interest. Imagine how much prettier it would be with a vintage pillowcase with matching ribbons... anywho... I know a little girl who is in need of some summer wear and I think this might be just the ticket... of course you can use the pattern with any cute little happy fabric you might find... I have some fun prints in mind... I think I may be Paying It Forward sooner than later... I am still waiting on two more takers... takers anyone?

What can I say???

Gideon is such a hoot!
His favorite past time is jumping...
and fear... what's that?
He has NO FEAR!

Getting ready to jump again... boy does he love it.
Had to throw this one it... she's just so dang cute!
I just had to point out his shirt...
My Mom can kick harder than you...
This made me giggle...

Forgot to add this...

Gid was not too sure about this.
If you look carefully in the background,
You'll see me pushing him down the slide.
Poor little man, we just wanted him to have fun.
He thought it was great as long as he was
watching from the other side of the glass.

Communing with Mother Nature...

It was a beautiful afternoon, so Brent and I decided to take a drive down a country lane and attempt to go Morel Mushroom hunting. Now I am sure this beautiful wooded glade was teaming with them... but I can say we are dismal mushroom hunters... a total bust on our part. We even looked it up online before our departure and looked where they instructed to no avail... What can I say... we are just not cut out for it. But we had a lovely walk while communing with Mother Nature. It truly was glorious... the only downside... ticks, yup those icky little creepy crawly bitey things... yuck, yuck, yuck!!! I must have picked like twenty off of me and you know what... I still feel creepy crawly all over.
Oh... did I mention I almost stepped on a snake also... yup at our second stop. I only yelled a little bit and I'm sure that snake was way more afraid of me becuase it took off oh so fast... good for me... made me just a little more cautious after that.... still went trekking through the tall grass... Here is a picture of the little lovely... a Western Ribbon Snake... non-venomous... scary to me, none the less.
who knew I could be so brave... I really don't like any of those creepy crawly bitey things... nope, not at all.
Ok... this was my favorite stop... Brent wouldn't climb the fence to investigate the burned out remains of this old house... I have been wanting to for like FOREVER... so I climbed that rusty rickety fence all by myself... Brent said that made me a trespasser... but the sign did not say no trespassing... it only said no hunting... and I am guessing they meant the kind of hunting that you do with guns... of which I had none... only my trusty little camera to take these awesome pictures (well at least I think they're awesome). Over all, it was a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon.

Our Weekend Get-a-Way...

Alex Lookin' Cool!
A Paintbrush Sculpture at Legends Mall.
More Legends Outlet Mall Pics...

Gid and Jake checkin' out the fish at Cabella's
Gid was feeding the big fish and everyone got in on the action. ps... Jake has a hold of Gid's jeans so he doesn't throw himself in.
More sculptures and photos from Legends Outlet Mall. These Black and White photos will soon adorn my walls in a nice grouping. Bj has an awesome eye.

Sorry this is a little blurry...
But how could I resist adding this picture of Ashelyn?
She was totally rockin' the shades!
Just before we left Big Wolfe Lodge... thank you, thank you to Camp Quality for inviting BJ and the Family. We had an awesome time! What a great family weekend excursion.
Misty and the Gidman, looking oh so cute.
Bj looks a little intense checking out the fish.
I absolutely LOVED this shot of Alex and Gideon. Gideon thought he was big, big stuff sitting up there with Uncle Alex.
Alex decided to pick a little guitar while sitting on the half wall between the sofa sleeper and the two queen beds in our room.
One of the few pictures in the water park that turned out. Gid was not too thrilled with all the noise and people... Another year or two and he will be all over the water fun.
This was a sweet shot of Misty and Gideon.
